Unique Garden Work Table Plans
A good garden workplace can be a real asset for a gardener. I am getting ready to build a work bench for my garden and think I will also throw some ideas for you. The place outside to work in can really be a big help for a gardener. What I want for my place to work near the garden is more than a traditional pot table. I was thinking of places to plant crops, work on equipment, etc. and clean vegetables before bringing them home. Have you sorted out the potted tables in the catalog? You have to save a lot of vegetables to pay for one of them.
Fast online browsing back some of the best looking carpentry you want, but it’s not for me. I think an old table from a garage sale would be fine for this project. It can sit under that tree in the back for shade. But, if you want to build one from scratch you can find a plan to build your own building, or there are kits available for you to develop. If I can not find an old table I have to build it myself. There are several types of wood that can be used for projects like this.
Cedar makes a nice table and will survive the weather very well. The wood is often used for fencing posts, if available, and will last for several years. Redwood is another big wood that is very suitable to eat. Depending on where you live, redwoods can be the wood with the highest price available. Redwood is a nice wood to use. It’s free of knots and will paint well if you want to cover a nice natural look.
Garden Work Table Plans
The treated wood can work for outdoor projects like this. And since the bench will not be in the garden, it will not release chemicals into the garden, but since I am an organic gardener, and want to stay away from chemicals as much as possible, I prefer to choose different wood. Natural wood, like oak, will survive well if treated with oil. Even if left untreated, but surviving from the land will last for a long time. Untreated Pine can be used for work benches and will last for some time. I make beds that are lifted from pine trees and they last for years in direct contact with the ground, so a table that does not get in contact with the ground will last for many years.
Another feature I want on my workbench is a basin for cleaning vegetables outdoors. I was thinking of putting the sink on the table and catching runoff from washing vegetables in a bucket to be laid back in the garden. Water will have dirt and vegetable parts in it and will be used to water the plants in the garden. Hose can be run from the outside tap to the work bench to wash vegetables, utensils, or whatever. Sounds like a good project. Now, if it will just turn into spring, I can start.
